The Reedy Lakes system comprises three permanent freshwater lakes maintained at a constant level as part of the Torrumbury irrigation water supply system.
First Reedy Lake
First Reedy Lake is maintained fresh as irrigation storage and occasionally receives Loddon River flood flows.

Leaving from the Reedy Lake Sanctuary are two walking trails. The nature trail where you can observe bird life and wild life in its natural habitat. And the cultural trail where you can learn a little more about the history of the Reedy Lakes and the people who lived here in the past.

Located at First Reedy Lake is the Apex Park . Access via Apex Park Rd off the Murray Valley Highway.

Middle Reedy Lake
Middle Lake Bird HideMiddle Reedy Lake is also a permanent freshwater lake. Of the three Ramsar listed, Middle Lake has the highest environmental value, supporting an internationally renowned Ibis Rookery. It features high quality native vegetation and many waterbirds including Large Ibis and Royal Spoonbill.
When you visit Middle Reedy Lake you will be visiting a world Ramsar listed wetland.

Each spring over 200,000 Ibis nest in the Reedy Lake Sanctuary, regarded as one of the largest in the world.

Middle Lake Ibis Rookery offers an elevated Bird Hide that is open for use at all times at no charge. This is the perfect position to view the magnificent bird life.

Third Reedy Lake is maintained fresh as irrigation storage and occasionally receives Loddon River flood flows.
