| Kerang is strategically positioned on the highway network between Swan Hill, Echuca and Bendigo in the productive north west irrigation area of Victoria. Due to its position, quality infrastructure, affordable industrial land and housing, investment in this region over recent years has been strong. | Climate Average temperatures range between 9 to 37 degrees Celcuis. Average rainfall is around 370mm. During the the cooler months the region has warm days and cool nights. And in the warmer months the lakes and waterways provide relief from the heat. When enjoying the outdoors it is advisable to wear sun screen, mosquito repellent and wear protective clothing.
| Agriculture Dryland and irrigated areas combine with an ideal climate and fertile soils to create a region rich in diversity. Although dairying, prime lambs, beef and cropping continue to provide a strong agricultural base, landuse is expanding. Winegrapes, vegetables and an increasing range of horticultural crops are grown in this region along with alternative commodities such as squab and herbs. Pork production and harvesting of salt are also key industries. The Mallee has traditionally been Victoria's premier producer of wheat. Grain silos receive wheat from farms for storage prior to transportation to processors and ports in Melbourne. The Mallee is also known for high quality barley, oat, canola and legume crops. Lucerne is also extensively in the Kerang Region as a top quality stock fodder.
| Industry and Manufacture Investment in manufacturing has benn significant in the Kernag region over recent years. Not only are the needs of the community catered for, products are also distributed throughout australia and overseas. A number of businesses have built on the farming sector providing machinery, irrigation pumps and land grading services.
