Bush walking is fun for the whole family. With walks ranging from nice easy strolls to moderate level. The Kerang region offers visitors many oppurtunities for visitors to relax and enjoy peaceful wetlands and woodlands. Enjoy the leisurely pace and the rich history.
The nature lovers checklist:
  • Supervise children carefully
  • Always carry water for drinking
  • Know your route and advise friends where you are going and what time to expect you back
  • Wear sensible walking shoes
  • Wear weather appropriate clothes
  • Wear a hat and protect skin from the sun
  • Carry a bag for rubbish
Help protect the Wetlands and their wildlife by:
  • Keeping at least 200 metres away from roosting, breeding or feeding waterbirds
  • Following all regulations relating to camping, duck hunting, and fishing.
  • Not trampling wetland vegetation.
  • Taking your rubbish home with you, especially fishing line and plastic items such as bait bags and six pack rings

Things to see and do-
  • Take leisurely walks in the wetlands and woodlands surrounding the Kerang Region
  • Have a picnic or barbecue in the provided picnic areas near the main entrance to Leaghur State Park and Lake Meran. Areas also provided at Reedy Lake Sanctuary and at the Apex Park at Reedy Lake.
  • Take time to stroll through the black box and red gums at Leaghur State Park.
  • Walk the tracks at Reedy Lake Sanctuary, information provided along the Cutural Walk about the history of that area
  • Walk the tracks along the Avoca River, or Lake Charm
  • Walk along the river track in the Kerang swamp area
  • Observe the many species of wildlife and birdlife
  • Watch a wallaby or kangaroo grazing

Satisfaction- It delivers the satisfaction of the being outdoors and exercising and enjoying
good health.
Health- Bush walking gets you outside and walking.
Family- Quality family time. You can introduce your children/grandchildren to an interest
in nature.
Companionship- Bush walking can be a social activity. Kerang has a Bush Walking Club.
Solitude-Bush walking can be an ideal solitary sport. Bush walking lends itself to the purpose of solitude or companionship,
whichever you would rather.
There are walking tracks in Kerang township, Leaghur State Park, At Lake Charm and Reedy Lake among other areas.
