Kerang & District Band Inc
The Kerang & District Band started in 1884 and will celebrate 125 years of musical service to the community of Kerang and district in 2009.
![]() We are a concert or military band with musicians who play brass, woodwind and percussion instruments and welcome players of all ages and encourage musicians of all abilities. We also offer tuition at reasonable rates. Membership of the band includes being provided with a uniform, free use of an instrument and plenty of fun and fellowship with like-minded people. Annual membership fees are currently $30.00 student, adult $40.00, 2 people in the same family $50.00, extra family members an additional $10.00. Kerang Eisteddfod record
Life Members
Practices are held every Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9:15 pm at the Band Hall in Maxwell St. Kerang and meetings are held on the first Thursday each month (except January) at 7.30 pm at the Hall. Contact: Special Events 2008 – Music Camp Queen’s Birthday weekend, June 6, 7, 8 & 9 2008. Venue to be advised. Musicians from Kerang and Swan Hill bands to take part plus anyone else who’d like to join in. Email for more information and to get onto a mailing list. 2009 – 125th Anniversary Celebrations Labour Day long weekend – March 7 to 9. Invitations going to as many past players, members and associates as possible. Plans include a display of memorabilia, anniversary dinner, guest musicians, book launch – History of the Band, massed band of past members, BBQ lunch, concerts by the current band and heaps more. (We have invited ABC radio presenter Derek Guille to help with the book launch and we hope to have Ian MacNamara present his national program Australia All Over from the Band Hall) September 2009 – Invitations are going out to regional bands to join us for a weekend of public concerts at various venues around Kerang. A brand new piece of music specially written to celebrate our 125 years will be performed by the massed band.
