Atkinson Park is part of the original Property owned by Woodford Patchell. The park was named after Charlie Atkinson who owned the Chemist Shop in Kerang opened by his father Douglas, next to the Pays Street Store in 1884. He later served as councillor on the Shire of Kerang and took a great interest in the community and beautifying the town. (refer to Walk/Drive of Historic Kerang , 81)
